Tea Ceremony
Kanazawa is renowned for its large population of people practicing tea ceremony daily. In fact, it has the most number of population rate of tea ceremony enthusiasts in Japan. Why is the culture deeply rooted in the everyday life of the locals?
As a city ruled by the richest, most powerful Samura government named Kaga Domain during the 17th -19th centuries, Kanazawa has inherited many samurai cultures, including tea ceremony, which was the popular pastime for the samurais in the Kaga Domain that demonstrated their authority and greatness through blossoming the cultures instead of the military might.
Our tea ceremony experience lets you immerse yourself in watching an elegant tea ceremony ritual in beautiful silence, and feel the Japanese spirit of wabi sabi. Come and join tea master Yuta Takahashi at his own house.
